Executive Leadership Academy: Second Cohort

The second cohort of the Executive Leadership Academy is now open for registation! Join this webinar in order to receive additional information about this incredible program and hear from some of its participants! This is a year-long program that blends traditional, lecture-based instruction with personalized mentorship learning. Participants will come together for learning intensives four times during the program and will develop a capstone quality improvement project to benefit their sponsoring institutions. This webinar will include all the details of the program, as well as testimonials from current participants.
Mary Bittner, DNP, MPA, RN, CENP
Adjunct Faculty, School of Nursing and Health Professions
Dr. Mary Bittner is the Lead Faculty for the Executive Leadership Academy in 2019. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Healthcare Executive Leadership degree from the University of San Francisco in 2012. As a nurse leader with over 34 years of healthcare operations leadership experience, Mary is passionate about effective patient care. As a proven interdisciplinary leader, Mary has effectively managed both inpatient and outpatient healthcare services in both urban and rural settings.
Mary retired from Nurse Executive Leadership in May of 2014 to work with Caravan Health, a national consulting company for predominately rural healthcare providers seeking to participate in the Accountable Care Organization model. Inspired by the mission to be part of the solution in affecting change in healthcare and helping local healthcare communities transition to a value-based enterprise, Mary assumed the position of Vice President, Clinical Development to build and implement the Community Care Coordination program which to date has been successfully implemented in many communities throughout the U.S.. Effective Coordination of Care as a key element toward effective Population Health Management is what Mary believes is paramount toward a successful healthcare improvement journey. Mary also believes that rural communities are well positioned to transform how we deliver care to our patients.
Devoted to continual learning, Mary is engaged in mentoring and educating nurses serving as an adjunct faculty member for the DNP program at the University of San Francisco. Actively engaged as a healthcare professional, Mary is a member and recent Board Member representative for the Association of California Nurse Leaders, a member of the American Organization of Nursing Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Mary also serves on the Board of Trustees for Nightingale College in Salt Lake City, Utah and retains national certifications as a Certified Executive in Nursing Practice as well as Healthcare Finance for Nurse Executives through HFMA.
Rose Colangelo, RN, MSN, CEN
Patient Care Manager, Emergency Room
Rose Colangelo completed her Master of Science in Nursing program at Point Loma Nazarene in 2015. Ms. Colangelo oversees the Scripps La Jolla Emergency Department Value by Design team in implementing strategies and practices for daily improvement in the emergency department. She was part of the planning team in the designing and opening of the Barbey Family Emergency and Trauma Center in 2016 and an eight-bed clinical decision area which opened in January 2017. Ms. Colangelo is a member of the ACNL Safety Engagement Committee and is co-chair of the California Hospital Association EMS and Trauma Committee.
Mary Kay Shibley, MSN, RN
Manager of Clinical Informatics and Electroconvulsive Therapy Services
Mrs. Shibley is currently working on completing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership at Point Loma Nazarene. She oversees the daily management of the ECT department and informatics for the behavioral health service line at Sharp HealthCare. She was integral in the design and implementation of the Cerner Electronic Medical Record for Behavioral Health Inpatient (2010) and Behavioral Health Ambulatory (2015). Mrs. Shibley is an active member of the ACNL Communication/Voice Committee.
